If you're looking for some inspiration, these are my personal favourites, the wines I keep going back to, each for their own reasons.
2023 GSM – This is the ultimate all-rounder. Whether you’re after something bright and juicy or a bit more structured, this wine flexes with the occasion. Made with whole-bunch Grenache (a personal weakness of mine), it delivers jubey red fruit, fine dusty tannins, and a near-100% hit rate.
2021 Fumé Blanc – Only the second time I’ve made this style, and honestly, it turned one of my least favourite varieties (Sauvignon Blanc) into one of my most-loved wines. Wild-fermented, textural, and totally unexpected.
2022 Knockoffs – Shiraz, Grenache, and Touriga — a blend that never fails to make me smile. The Touriga brings a floral lift that plays beautifully with the richness of Shiraz and the vibrancy of Grenache. The Shiraz was from a super low-yielding vintage, so it’s got real depth and drive.
2024 Vermentino – I’ve always loved Vermentino, but this is the first time I’ve gone full skin-contact. It’s not your typical orange wine — I kept cap disturbance minimal to highlight texture without over-extraction. Think mid-palate grip, clean lines, and a nose that smells like Thai basil (which, frankly, is one of my favourite scents on Earth).
2023 Grenache - I love this Grenache for its purity, vibrancy, and old-vine character. Grown in deep sand and made with whole bunches, it’s bright, layered, and just damn easy to drink — no fuss, just great fruit doing its thing.
