2020 Gerler "Rej"
McLaren Vale, SA
Named after the legendary vineyard goat, Rej is a bold McLaren Vale red wine blend of 71% Montepulciano and 29% Mataro. It’s dark, structured, and soulful — with notes of blackberry, leather, violets, and dried herbs. The Monte provides grip and depth, while the Mataro brings spice and earthy juiciness. With firm tannins and serious flavour, this small-batch Australian red is made for grilled meats, rustic pastas, and BBQ veg. Wild-hearted, full-flavoured, and stupidly good value.
It hurts a little to let a wine of this calibre go at this price — but the truth is, I've got too much stock and it’s not doing anyone any good sitting in the shed. Ironically, during the brief stint I entered wine shows, this was the one that consistently impressed the judges. Stupid pricing. Not stupid wine.
Let customers speak for us
from 25 reviewsVery nice to drink, there is a smoothness to this that is truly enjoyable
Extremely drinkable. We bought a case of the 2023 Gerler GSM during the November sales, promptly finished it, and came back for more in December. We were delighted to discover that it was 2025's #1 bestseller – well deserved!
The rose is a tangy fragrant summer cold treat- really liked it
Lovely light white, which lingers on the palate really pleasingly.
An amazing wine - as always. The only problem I have is that I ma go through a box very quickly.
We love the Gerler Vermentino. It has a delicious crisp light flavour. A great wine to accompany many dishes.
Delicious rosé wine. Definitely up to Gerler’s very high standards.
Love it!!! Hope you will have something similar in the future.
Love this wine! It was a great surprise- a bit like a reisling but with a stronger body. Will definitely buy it again.
Absolutely amazing wine! It would be in my favourite top 3 Sauvignon Blancs I’ve ever tasted!
Love it and excellent value for money
I got this one cos it was a best-seller and wanted to see what the fuss was about... pleased to say it's well-deserved. Beautiful for savouring as a wind-down treat at the end of a long day, or splitting a bottle with mates over a platter of cheese and meats.
