Gerler 2023 McLaren Vale Shiraz

Combine that with seriously expensive, low-yield fruit and some of the best French oak money can buy, and you’ve got a wine that’s all about power dressed in velvet.

It’s plush and seductive right from the first sniff — black cherries, blood plums, and blackberry compote, layered with dark chocolate, espresso, and sweet baking spice from the oak. The palate is concentrated and full-bodied, but the tannins are so fine and polished they feel almost creamy. There’s a savoury edge that keeps it from being too rich, and the finish just keeps on going — a slow, luxurious fade.

This is not a casual Tuesday wine. It’s the one you open when you want to make a point: that you care, that you’ve got taste, that you mean business.
