2023 Gerler Barossa Shiraz
Barossa Valley, SA
Our 2023 Barossa Shiraz is packed with dark fruit flavours like black plum and mulberry, it delivers layers of dark chocolate, mocha, and smoky oak with a velvety, full-bodied finish. A classic Australian Shiraz with power, plush texture, and smooth tannins, it's the perfect red wine for steak nights, smoky barbecue, or aged cheese boards.
Here’s the deal — this one’s a bit of a showstopper. It comes from a low-yielding vintage, which means less fruit per vine, but way more concentration and power in the glass. The result? A classic Barossa Shiraz, but with extra depth, drive, and that irresistible lushness that makes you pour a second glass before you’ve finished the first.
The fruit is intense and dark — we’re talking black plum, mulberry, and dark chocolate vibes — layered with spice, mocha, and this gorgeous vanilla/toast oak character that smells like someone just lit the good kind of campfire. There’s plenty of power, but it’s wrapped up in velvety tannins and a plush, mouth-filling texture that makes it dangerously slurpable.
This is the kind of wine that pleases everyone — your hardcore red drinkers will appreciate the structure and richness, while the casual sippers will just say, “Yum, that’s smooth.” Either way, it hits.
Serve it at 16 degrees, give it a splash in a decanter if you’ve got time, and enjoy the slow nod of approval from anyone you pour it for.
– Steak. Any steak. All the steaks. Charred, rested, medium-rare, with salt and pepper — job done.
– Beef brisket or smoked ribs — the deeper the flavour, the better this wine flexes.
– Hard cheeses — aged cheddar, pecorino, or even a smoky blue.
– Roast root veg with thyme and olive oil — if you want to keep it vego, go big and earthy.
Let customers speak for us
from 10 reviewsI got this one cos it was a best-seller and wanted to see what the fuss was about... pleased to say it's well-deserved. Beautiful for savouring as a wind-down treat at the end of a long day, or splitting a bottle with mates over a platter of cheese and meats.
I do love a dry Rose and this one was a corker. The kind of wine you open ‘just for one glass’... and suddenly the bottle’s gone. Will be back for more.
Crisp, zesty and sooo easy to drink. It was a like a chardonnay, but different and quite fresh. Loved every sip.
Absolutely loved this Shiraz. It’s everything I want in a red - juicy fruit with a velvety finish. Great quality.
