2023 Gerler Old Vine Grenache
Vine Vale | Barossa Valley, SA
The gnarly old vines that created this wine are truly something to behold. Sitting in the pure sand, they're tough old buggers that deliver fruit of depth, purity and character. We get out of the way and let the fruit sing; the only artefact is the inclusion of whole bunches to add extra layers of complexity in the fruit and tannins. This wine is pretty, juicy and slurpable - but keep looking it opens out its tail feathers.
– BBQ anything — lamb chops, sausages, charred veg. If it’s coming off a grill, it’ll sing.
– Duck breast with cherry glaze — next-level match with that fruit lift.
– Mushroom pizza or charred capsicum pasta — hits the earthy/savoury sweet spot.
– Also ridiculously good with Korean fried chicken if you’re into spicy-sweet contrasts.
Let customers speak for us
from 10 reviewsI got this one cos it was a best-seller and wanted to see what the fuss was about... pleased to say it's well-deserved. Beautiful for savouring as a wind-down treat at the end of a long day, or splitting a bottle with mates over a platter of cheese and meats.
I do love a dry Rose and this one was a corker. The kind of wine you open ‘just for one glass’... and suddenly the bottle’s gone. Will be back for more.
Crisp, zesty and sooo easy to drink. It was a like a chardonnay, but different and quite fresh. Loved every sip.
Absolutely loved this Shiraz. It’s everything I want in a red - juicy fruit with a velvety finish. Great quality.
