2022 Grüner Veltliner
Adelaide Hills, SA
A cool-climate Grüner Veltliner ("groo-ner felt-leener") from the Adelaide Hills with crisp citrus, subtle stonefruit, and a signature savoury edge. Dry, bright, and quietly complex, this Austrian-born white shows lemon zest, white nectarine, fennel, and a snap of white pepper. Textural and food-friendly, it’s perfect for Riesling or Chardonnay lovers who want something a little different, with bite and balance.

Originally Austrian, but absolutely loving life in the cooler bits of the Adelaide Hills. It’s a stylish dry white, sure, but it’s also got some real substance to it.
You’ll get citrus up front — think lemon zest and grapefruit pith — followed by just-ripe stonefruit, maybe white nectarine. But what really makes it stand out is the savoury edge: a bit of white pepper, a little snap of fennel, and this gently grippy texture that makes it feel more grown-up than your average crisp white. It’s bright, clean, and quietly complex — not shouting, just doing its thing with confidence.
One for Riesling, Fiano or Chardonnay drinkers who like their whites to have a bit of bite and a dry, clean finish.
Serve it cold but not fridge-burned — and don’t be afraid to let it warm up a touch in the glass. It’s got stories to tell.
Oh BTW this is is labelled as FRANCO - it is a weird enough variety to wear the livery.
– Schnitzel, obviously — if we’re going classic Austrian.
– Roast chicken with lemon and herbs — juicy bird, crispy skin, glass of Grüner. Sorted.
– Anything with asparagus — one of the few wines that actually pairs well with it.
– Salt & pepper squid or Japanese karaage — that citrus/savoury combo works a treat with lightly fried stuff.

from 5 reviewsI do love a dry Rose and this one was a corker. The kind of wine you open ‘just for one glass’... and suddenly the bottle’s gone. Will be back for more.

Crisp, zesty and sooo easy to drink. It was a like a chardonnay, but different and quite fresh. Loved every sip.

Absolutely loved this Shiraz. It’s everything I want in a red - juicy fruit with a velvety finish. Great quality.
