2023 La Petit Vanguard 'Iberion' White Blend
From the producer:
We’ve always thought of the La Petite Vanguard as being our example of a Bistro style wine – the experimental sibling to Vanguardist. Youthful & vibrant, with great drinkability, enhanced by layers of complexity from thoughtful use of solids, skin contact, oak and other vessels.
VINEYARD AND WINERY
Our first foray into dry white wine since 2019, we introduce this dynamic white blend.
Fruit grown using organic and biodynamic practices by the Bassham family in the Riverland, South Australia. The blend of Vermentino (56%) and Fernão Pires (44%), gave the wine its fitting namesake of the 'Iberion'. Both varieties were harvested separately, then tipped straight into open top tanks with their skins and all. Spontaneous yeast kicked things off, and after five days were pressed together and finished primary ferment in tank.
At the completion of ferment, the wine was transferred to old French barriques. Elevage occurred for two months to assist in building further texture to this zesty and mineral driven dry white wine.
At just 9.9% alcohol this wine is a perfect aperitif, or can easily be enjoyed with or without food.

from 21 reviewsLovely light white, which lingers on the palate really pleasingly.
An amazing wine - as always. The only problem I have is that I ma go through a box very quickly.
We love the Gerler Vermentino. It has a delicious crisp light flavour. A great wine to accompany many dishes.
Delicious rosé wine. Definitely up to Gerler’s very high standards.
Love it!!! Hope you will have something similar in the future.
Love this wine! It was a great surprise- a bit like a reisling but with a stronger body. Will definitely buy it again.
Absolutely amazing wine! It would be in my favourite top 3 Sauvignon Blancs I’ve ever tasted!
Love it and excellent value for money
I got this one cos it was a best-seller and wanted to see what the fuss was about... pleased to say it's well-deserved. Beautiful for savouring as a wind-down treat at the end of a long day, or splitting a bottle with mates over a platter of cheese and meats.
I do love a dry Rose and this one was a corker. The kind of wine you open ‘just for one glass’... and suddenly the bottle’s gone. Will be back for more.
